on my birthday two years ago, many special things happened on me. and i would

remember them forever.

that morning, i rode my bike to school happily as usual. on my way to the

classroom, i saw some of my classmates. but when they saw me, they rushed away. that made me confused. because they would talk to me or play jokes on me before. but it was strange today.

when i came into the classroom, i found the atmosphere was quite strange.

everybody looked at me and laughed loudly. suddenly they all said in good order,“happy birthday to you!” then they began to sing “happy birthday to you~~~~~~” that made me moved. i never told anyone about my birthday, how did they know? i believed they must have done a lot of things. at that moment, i found nothing to say but thanks instead!

after school, a thing coming as a surprise happened on me on my way back home. when i was riding suddenly a crowed of people rushed out to stopped my bike.i recogized them at once. they were my senior classmates. they all comlained to me,“why don't you tell us about your birthday? don't you fear that we will let you stand treat? this time you owe us.” then each of them gave a gift and a card with best wishes to me. i was deeply moved again. i suggested having a dinner together. but they all refused because of the time. then they left me saying we would ask you to pay us another day!

when i got back home, i thought of everyth hing happened today. suddenly i felt so happy because i had such great friends around me. i thanked them from the bottom of my heart. i would value the precious friendship forever!

i have so many feelings through that special day. the only rose without thorns in the world is friendship. a true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart. truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget. one friend in a lifetime is much, two are many, three are hardly possible. stick to make friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island. to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune, to keep him is a blessing.

thank you for your attention!

dear everyone,

good evening, everyone!

throughout my years of being a student, i’ve had many teachers. none of them are the same, but the one that i’ll never forget and will always miss is my chinese bilingual teacher in the middle school i attended in seattle, ms. ho. she was a skinny, but stylish lady in her 50s. she was different from all the other teachers because she gave me something unforgettable.

ms. ho and i became friends right in the first semester i was in that middle school. at the same time, i was having a really hard time with my subjects. since i had just transferred from a bilingual school, where i had stayed for two months after arriving in the us, my english was horrible; my average grade was below c. i almost thought it impossible to learn english. then, one day she told me she strongly believed that i was capable of controlling my life, and i would be just fine. she said that she found we were much alike: both were stubborn, kind-hearted and a little bit simple-minded. she believed that i had the quality of becoming wise. she even said that she didn’t have any worries about me, about my not learning english. with her encouragement, i found the strength within myself and began to desire to work even harder. as a result, i soon proved her right, and at the end of the semester, i got a 3.8 average grade.

today, i still keep in touch with her, and she still tells me how she believes in me. sometimes, i’d think back, and wonder how i could handle all those things if it wasn’t for her encouragement and trust. could i be the person i am today? then, it struck me: what we need has always been trust and love of others; because these things inspire us to do our best, and to live our life to its fullest.

to sum up, i’d like to say to all of you: let us all appreciate trust and love of others and achieve our full potential in our life!

when henry ford decided to produce his famous v-8 motor, he chose to build an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast in one block, and instructed his engineers to produce a design in one for the engine. the design was placed on paper, but the engineers agreed, to a man, that it was simply impossible to cast an eight-cylinder engine-block in one piece.

ford said, “produce it anyway.”

“but,” they replied, “it’s impossible!”

“go ahead.” ford commanded, “and stay on the job until you succeed, no matter how much time is required.”

the engineers went ahead. there was nothing else for them to do, if they were to remain on the ford staff. si_ months passed and nothing happened. another si_ months passed, and still nothing happened. the engineers tried every conceivable plan to carry out the orders, but the thing seemed out of the question:“impossible!”

at the end of the year ford checked with his engineers, and again they informed him they had found no way to carry out his orders.

“go right head,” said ford, “i want it, and i’ll have it.”

they went ahead, and then, as if by a stroke of magic, the secret was discovered.

the ford determination had won once more!

this story may not be described with minute accuracy, but the sum and substance of it is correct. deduce from it, you who wish to think and grow rich, the secret of the ford millions, if you can. you’ll not have to look very far.

henry ford was successful, because he understood and applied the principles of success. one of these is desire: knowing out the lines in which the secret of his stupendous achievement have been described. if you can do this, if you can lay your finger on the particular group of principles which made henry ford rich, you can equal his achievements in almost any calling for which you are suited.

good morning teachers and fellow students. today we would like to introduce a few favorite books to you.

my favorite book is; (italian: cuore). this is a diary written by an italian boy enrico. the diary is about his life and study. it included various touching stories that happened around enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten 'monthly' stories told by his teacher during the class. every word in the chapter describes the word 'love'. from patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really touching.

this novel taught me how to love, and how to learn from love. i really like this book very much. how about you? what is your favorite book?

my favorite book is;. have you read it before?

oh, i haven’t read this book before. what is it about?

honorable judges, fellow students:

good afternoon!

recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive e_ceptional education at e_traordinary places. but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

the cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. but the cynics are wrong. the college students i see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. we help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. i believe in all my fellow classmates. though we are still ine_perienced and even a little bit childish. i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. i believe in our future.

as you slowly open your eyes, look around , notice where the light comes into your room; listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize; feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air. yes, yes, yes, it’s a new day, it’s a different day, and it’s a bright day! and most importantly, it is a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to make new desicisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented level! you know all this is real as long as you are confident, passionate and committed! and you are confident, you are passionate, you are committed!

you will no longer fear making new sounds, showing new facial expressions, using your body in new ways, approaching new people, and asking new questions. you will live every single day of your life with absolute passion, and you will show your passion through the words you speak and the actions you take. you will focus all your time and effort on the most important goals of your life. you will never succumb to challenges of hardships. you will never waver in your pursuit of excellence. after all,you are the best, and you deserve the best!

as your coach and friend, i can assure you the door to all the best things in the world will open to you, but the key to that door is in your hand. you must do your part, you must faithfully follow the plans you make and take the actions you plan, you must never quit, you must never fear. i know you must do it, you can do it, you will do it, and you will succeed!

a dream

i remember when i was young; my mother often described the beauty of the grasslands through this poem: “tian cang cang, ye mang mang, feng chui cao di xian niu yang”. it means in english “clear skies, sweeping plains, the grass bowing before the wind, revealing grazing horses and sheep.” i could recite this even before entering primary school.

16years ago, my mother visited one of the grassland of inner mongolia. she said that no words could describe it’s stunning natural charm. with her description firmly printed on my mind i began to long for a tour to the grassland.

sadly, this marvelous image that i had in my mind changed completely when my mum and i visited the grassland a year ago. as soon as we got there, i couldn’t believe my eyes. what was in front of me was just a piece of land with loosely grown grass. in the far distance i saw only a couple of horses feeding lazily. i asked my mother: “where is the lush, tall grass?” as puzzled as me, she said nothing. i was shocked to see the differences between the grassland in my dream and what was in front of me.

on the way home, i thought a lot and tried to find answers.

now i am old enough to bring awareness to other people and share my dream for the grasslands. overgrazing and extensive farming have ruined the grassland and so taken away the charm of our homeland. but i am confident that one day the grasslands will recover and its true wealth and beauty will be realized as long as everybody gives his contribution to restore our homeland.

dear friends! do you still remember your first english teacher? you may say:” yes.” everyone has his teachers, in my mind, i’ll never forget her---my first english teacher ms. li. without her, i wouldn’t be standing here. she is a young and lovely lady with beautiful eyes. her voice sounds sweet and she speaks english very well. that was the first impression she left on us when she first gave us an english lesson.

in her class, she taught us carefully and patiently. she has a strange way of making her class lively and interesting. she always made opportunities for us to speak english. she gave us many beautiful pictures to talk on them, played games with us and told us many interesting stories. she made us learn from games. we learned english with great fun. after class she helped the students who had trouble in learning english.

little by little, i had interest in english, but english was a new subject to me, i had many difficulties in learning it well. i often felt very confused. even though i wanted to give up learning english. it was ms. li who helped me to find ways to overcome my difficulties. she helped me to practice speaking english everyday. she always encouraged me whenever i lost heart. she helped me to have confidence in myself. she gave me what i needed, courage, confidence, good ways to learn

english and opportunities to speak english in class. so i was grateful for her. maybe i can’t meet her again. the only thing i can give her is my best wishes. i wish my dear teacher happiness, good health and good luck. and i also want to say to her: thank you, ms. li. i love you!

discovering beauty

life is full of beauty. beauty lies not only in nature but also in our heart. if we have a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted, we can find beauty everywhere around.

let beauty be our guide to understand ourselves. people always have a strong desire for better appearance. whatever their age, size, or shape, they hope to look more attractive. beauty is only skin deep. but true beauty lies deep inside us. a heart for love is the most valuable. only in our heart does beauty make our life beautiful.

let beauty be our way to communicate with nature. at the foot of the hill, we see beauty running in the clear river smoothly. on top of the mount, we see beauty rising with the dawn from the east quietly. in the heat of summer, we see beauty dancing with the autumn leaves. in the cold of winter, we see beauty coming with the spring upon sprouts. we shout, we love you, nature! our voice reverberates across the mountains, while beauty reverberates in our heart!

let beauty be our bridge between man and nature. in the harmony, beauty is a garden for ever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.

beauty is something to see, to breathe, to feel and to complete. beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.
